Not all banner display systems are the same and there are a wide range of uses for them so it makes a lot of sense to consider your needs before choosing. What you choose will depend on your use including the duration of use, it will depend on how portable you need it to be and of course on your budget.
Banner displays are becoming increasingly popular for use at business premises this includes shops who want to promote offers and so on and tourist attractions and other places of interest including shopping centres and sports-clubs who use them to advertise, direct people, give information and so on. They are ideal for short term promotions and special events, if your attraction has a particular event on then rather than have permanent style signage use a banner display; it may be you will want to bring it out annually: in these situations you may choose to use a roller banner with a cassette system. Cassette roll-up banners can be easily put up and down and moved but the banner itself can be removed and replaced with another using the same display system, this means you save money and can have a number of banners for different purposes such as different events or different promotions. If you are going to be using a banner long term then go for a good quality banner base and have the banner printed on durable materials such as vinyl that are easy to clean and maintain as well.
Banner display systems first became very popular at events especially exhibitions and trade shows. If you have a trade stand and want to stand out then your exhibition display is vital and it must catch the attention of passers-by. Vertical banners are ideal as they can be stationed by walkways to catch the eye without being so large they stop people getting on to your stand, you can put a lot of information on the banner as well to quickly get across what you are offering. While some exhibition stands take hours to setup and others are cheap and cheerful and look it, banner display stands are easy to setup within a few seconds but still look very impressive and professional. Roller banners again are great for trade fairs, simply pull the banner out of its base and use the pole to hold it in place, usually made out of aluminium they look sleek and are light as well. Bigger display systems such as large pop-up displays are great if you have at least a small van to transport them in and even mounted graphics need a big car to get them into without bending them. Roller banners and other banners fold down and usually come with a carry case to make them easy to get them to an event in a small car or even on public transport if you see someone with a big black case on the tube it could well be someone on their way to make a presentation or similar with a roller banner to put up.
Tension banners may be even more portable but need slightly more effort to put together they can come in larger formats though and still have little you need to carry other than the banner itself.
Outdoor banners can be good to get people into your business and often stand out to people driving by as well, they may not come in straight away but hopefully your business and location will stick in their mind for when they need you. Specialist outdoor banner displays have weighted bases and are durable so they can stay out even in bad weather, make sure your banner is printed on materials to be just as durable as well. Flag displays are another option and also hold banners up where they will be more visible.
